- December 26, 2019
PEARL ― For your New Year’s resolution, consider improving your do-it-yourself skills by taking the Ms. Fix It Workshop presented by the Mississippi Construction Education Foundation. For only $50, participants will receive six hours of hands-on instruction covering a variety of common household repairs.
“Modern construction careers are more diverse than ever, and that includes gender diversity,” said Mike Barkett, MCEF president. “Offering a community workshop specifically for women will be a fun and educational experience that also helps raise awareness about MCEF and the work we’re doing to improve career and technical education for all Mississippians.”
During the workshop, which will be held in MCEF’s state-of-the-art training center, participants will learn to master basic skills for common household repairs, such as replacing faucets, installing light fixtures, cleaning AC coils, installing shelves, hanging window treatments and repairing sheetrock.
The Ms. Fix It Workshop will be held on two successive Mondays — Jan. 13 and 20 — from 6 to 9 p.m. at the MCEF Training Center at 5165 Old Brandon Road in Pearl. The registration deadline is Monday, Jan. 6, and the cost is $50. Class size is limited so register soon by contacting Lauren Hunt at firstname.lastname@example.org or 601-605-2989.
